There is nothing truly as unique and captivating as the rhythmic sound of a letterpress in motion. The metal clinks marking measured progressive turns of the ink disk. The dimpled and textured filled pops of the rollers distributing color across their artist’s palate. The rhythmic groans and creaks of a century old machine proving slow and steady still wins the race. And that distinctive sound of a metal kiss as paper and print embrace. A symphony that then finds its ending crescendo in the unparalleled feel and texture of a hand-made work of art.
“A secret admirer from afar…”
I have always been enamored by all things letterpress. The machines, the history, the elements, the designs, the possibilities. But growing up, the art form often felt like an illusive dream. Undeniable allure, but always just out of reach. Too rare, to luxurious, too expensive. I was a secret admirer from afar, holding onto a secret prayer that one day I’d get to experience more.
The opportunity for more came in 2010 when a letterpress in my local area came up for sale. A New Style 8×12 Chandler & Price dating back to 1924. Coming from an estate sale, I learned very little regarding the previous owner directly. But from the extensive collection of printing materials housed along with the former gentleman’s press in his detached garage turned print studio, I can imagine printing was one of his great loves.
Two years later, I added a second press to my collection. Another New Style C&P, but this time a 10×15 and dated back to 1925. This second, much more sizable machine, was formally used by our local Nevada newspaper for printing weekly news publications. It stood in a history museum prior to the decision to sell, and I jumped at the chance to give it an opportunity for active life once more.
“A fitting duo…”
Together, my presses seem a fitting duo. One rising from a past representing love, passion, and enjoyment. Giving testament to the joy of a collector, designer, and historian. And the other, representing the widespread influence that can be found in a single voice. Technology that revolutionized the word, and sought to inform the masses through the published word.
Through my boutique print shop, I am privileged to honor both of these historical paths. Celebrating uniqueness and beauty, embracing passion and drive, while reaching groups both large and small with a single communication. Bringing individuality to a written exchange that celebrates and commemorates stories of love, life, and cherished events.

Oh, would I could describe these conceptions, could impress upon paper all that is living so full and warm within me, that it might be the mirror of my soul, as my soul is the mirror of the infinite God!
